Varroa Tester

Product Description

Collecting a sample of bees and assessing the mite load has never been this easy. The CO2 injector doses the bees, knocking them unconscious. The mites fall through the divider and can then be easily counted. This method will minimize the number of bees that perish.

CO2 Container not Included.

To run a test:

  • Collect roughly 200 honey bees into the container, filling up the largest side. You will want to fill up the container to at least the red line.
  • Using the dispenser, disperse CO2 into the container for 4-6 seconds through the small hole in the side of the container. The bees should stop moving and seem a little sluggish (it knocks them out but shouldn't kill them).
  • Wait 10-20 seconds and then shake the container for 10 seconds, sifting all varroa mites through the filter and into the smaller portion of the container.
