Slatted Rack

A very versitile option used by many beekeepers, creating an air space under the brood chamber. This allows the colony to stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

$26.95

A valuable accessory for good wintering and swarm control.

  • In the winter, the slatted rack keeps the brood chamber warmer, so the queen can lay to the bottom of the frame.
  • In spring and summer, with large hive populations, provides a cluster space to help reduce swarming.

Can be used in combination with Varroa screens. The slats run from back to front so are directly under the hive frames. Thus, when the Varroa mites fall naturally off bees, they pass through the slats to the Varroa screen.

The slatted rack should be installed as pictured above. Do not turn over when installing in your hive.

Available for 8 or 10 frame hives, as well as a 9 frame version (for those with 9 frames in a 10 frame hive).

Slats run perpendicular to the entrance.

Fully assembled.
